VxVM vxdg ERROR V-5-1-6478

Posted in Veritas at 2:57 pm by alessiodini

Today i discovered this error during the creation of a new dg.
The complete error is:

bash-3.00# vxdg init appl-dg appl01=c1t2d0
VxVM vxdg ERROR V-5-1-6478 Device c1t2d0 cannot be added to a CDS disk group

vxdisk list shows:

bash-3.00# vxdisk list
DEVICE TYPE DISK GROUP STATUS
c1t0d0s2 auto:none – – online invalid
c1t1d0s2 auto:sliced – – online
c1t2d0s2 auto:sliced – – online
c1t3d0 auto:sliced LOG-DG02 LOG-DG online
c1t4d0 auto:sliced LOG-DG01 LOG-DG online
c1t5d0 auto:sliced disk0 LOG-DG online

When a new dg is created the default type is CDS , but in this case the disk c1t2d0 is sliced.
So , turning off the CDS type for a diskgroup , the creation is terminated without errors:

bash-3.00# vxdg init appl-dg appl01=c1t2d0 cds=off
