Solaris 11: how to install and use GNOME on text installation

Posted in Solaris at 2:13 pm by alessiodini

Today i’m very funny !
I was studying Solaris 11 when i tought: “If a customer should ask me how to use GNOME graphical desktop, how I could do that?”

Looking on the web i found the solution.
For this purpose we need to have a IPS repository access. Then:

1) pkg install slim_install <– this downloads the additional software , even GNOME.
2) svcadm enable gdm
3) init 6

This is what i saw after.
